What is Sempervirens?

Scientifically, Sempervirens is a Sequoia species in the Cupressaceae family. It is commonly known as the California coastal redwood. "Sempervirens" means "always living" or “always thriving" in Latin, reflecting the resilience of these trees. They can be burned, cut down, or submerged in water for long periods of time, the redwood will come back. Being the tallest trees on earth they are priced for their rot and bug resistance qualities. The redwoods are Native to California, particularly thriving along Humboldt County's fog-drenched coast. Sempervirens Sequoias epitomize the region's biodiversity of creatures and stunning landscapes.

How Sempervirens Inspire Sempervirens Gardening:

As we brainstormed a name for our gardening services, we opted for "Sempervirens Gardening" to break away from the typical names featuring "Humboldt," "coastal," "bay," or surnames. Moreover, it just made sense to name it after the spectacular coastal redwood which is not only majestic, but is a pillar to the forest and animals. Now there has been some confusion here and there… considering us part of the Sempervirens Psychiatric Hospital in Eureka, but we are a totally separate entity.

Cultivating the Essence: Sempervirens Gardening Explained

We truly believe in being an integral entity of our community by offering career opportunities, exceptional gardening and landscaping services, and supporting non profits like The Boys and Girls Club of the Redwood, Wild Souls Ranch, Humboldt County Library, Food For People, and Project Eureka. Like the Sequoia Sempervirens rooted in our soil, we invest in our future and youth. Our goal is clear as mud: to help our community thrive.
